According to new research by Talker, the number one thing Americans are hoping for this holiday season is cold, hard cash! Many would even be happy having some of their bills paid, instead of a traditional gift.
Of the bills we’d like to have covered, 58% were hoping for utilities, while 51% would be happy knowing rent is covered for the month. Another 44% said they’d like to have some of their credit card debt taken care of.
It seems this year, there’s a shift towards practical support from loved ones rather than material presents. Here’s a list of the top scoring gifts people are hoping for this year:
- Cash/money – 58%
- Wearable/accessories (clothes, shoes, jewelry, etc.) – 29%
- Essentials (rent or mortgage paid, utilities paid, replaced appliances, etc.) – 21%
- Experiences (travel, concert or sports tickets, etc.) – 19%
- Gadgets/tech (gaming systems, computers, smart devices, etc.) – 16%
- Trendy items (Labubu, Stanley cup, the latest skin care products, etc.) – 7%
