According to a new study by WalletHub, Louisiana ranks as the #1 most stressed state. WalletHub looked at all 50 states and compared stats across 40 different factors separated into four categories: work-related stress, money-related stress, family-related stress, and health and safety stress. Data was pulled from the U.S. Census Bureau, the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the CDC, FBI, and several other organizations.
What puts Louisiana at the top of the list? Well, among other things, a health crisis and a high poverty rate (the highest in the country). Louisiana also ranked low in job availability and security, and has fewer psychologists per capita than most states.
Virginia comes in just shy of the 10 least stressed states (#38), which all had things in common – “lower crime rates, stronger economies, better healthcare infrastructure, and more robust support systems for families tend to travel together.”
