It’s Oscar Time Again

Well it's Oscar time again and now you know where I'll be this Sunday night .No, not at The Kodak Theatre in LA - more like the sofa at "Casa West". The 10 movies up for Best Picture this year are Black Swan, The Fighter, Inception, The Kids Are All Right, The King's Speech, 127 Hours, The Social Network, Toy Story 3, True Grit, and Winter's Bone.

I must confess I haven't seen all 10 of these flicks, but I have seen several of them ... some even twice. Until I saw King's Speech I thought Social Network was a shoe-in to win. I also think Colin Firth will get best actor for this great film. I loved 127 Hours as I mentioned in a previous blog, however the gore factor doesn't help this picture with it's attempt at appealing to the masses. True Grit was good but not great, except for Hailee Steinfeld who stole the movie. Winters Bone was interesting but sad and felt really "dark". Portman will probably score for Black Swan & Christian Bale for The Fighter.

But if you really want to see a great movie from 2010 that was completely ignored - make sure to rent BURIED with Ryan Reynolds. Maybe the best movie I saw in 2010. One person visually in the whole movie. One setting. Very compelling.

The 83rd Academy Awards is on ABC at 8pm (but please leave BOB FM on in the background)
