The VA Zoo

OMGosh what a day. I love animals and I know a lot of you love animals. With that being said we were broadcasting live at the Virginia Zoo in Norfolk and boy did we have a great time. First of all the weather was perfect. Secondly, we got to get close with a few of the animals. Here are a few pictures with us and the Tortoises. These creatures are amazing. Meet AJ. He's the eldest. He's 91 years old and weighs about 500lbs. Crazy! And a special thank you to Yohn, he's the Zoo Keeper for the Tortoises. Please stayed tune for the pictures with us seeing the beautiful Asian Black Bears. We went behind the scenes where the bears spend their nights sleeping and also in the midday when the Zoo Keeper, Charlene, brings them in for their midday snack. These are magnificent creatures. Also thank you again Charlene for your time. Roger who is the Deputy Director of the Zoo and Win, who is the Marketing Director, we thank you both for making it all happen. We had such a great time. Get over there to the Zoo. It's such family fun. And don't forget to educate yourself and the kiddies on these wonderful beautiful animals by getting on the Virginia Zoo's website at Virginiazoo.org. Believe it or not, we can make a huge difference for these animals and their habitats as American Consumers. It's well worth it. Have a great night and more animal pics on the way....PEACE!

The YWCA…and so much more going on…

Our dear family friend, Cherrise Minerva, asked me to spread the word on something that is happening at the YWCA in Norfolk off of Colley Ave. The complete address is 5215 Colley Ave. They are discussing "Racial Prejudice: America's Blind Spot". The movement, STAND AGAINST RACISM, has the goal of bringing people together from all walks of life in the hopes of raising awareness that racism still exits. There will be music, spoken word and a presentation by Dr. Cassandra Newby-Alexander. Mark your calendar for Friday, April 29, 2011 from 11:30am to 1:30pm. And on Saturday, April 30th there will be more events. Get the details at the YWCA of Norfolk.

So many other things are happening. We are broadcasting live starting on Thursday on through the weekend. I hope you can catch us at one of the remotes.

Thanks for keeping your "Knob on BOB". Have a great night and I hope to see you soon.

How’s things???

Or should I say "Let the games begin". We are going to be all over the place now that the "warm" weather is here, right? Isn't it? Keeping my fingers crossed on that one. In any case, always keep in mind that where ever we end up going, freebies tag along. And that's a good thing for you BOB-FM listeners. I do have to let you know that I was at One Life Fitness in the Chesapeake Square location last night. OMG what a place. I did for the first time and definitely not the last ZUMBA. WOW what a blast. Anika was the instructor. She's amazing. I'm hoping she'll be teaching at the Norfolk location soon. That's the One Life I go to. More convenient. Don't forget you can use your One Life Fitness Membership at all of their locations...southside and peninsula and majority of the amenities are included in that! Sweet. Keep the Knob on BOB 'cause you never know when we'll be giving away One Life Fitness Memberships. Better yet, I'll be at the Newport News location on Monday April 18th. Stop by....that is if you're feeling lucky.

Also, we are doing giveaways for the Virginia Zoo in Norfolk. We have family four-packs up for grabs. Did you see the new exhibit yet, "Trail of the Tiger"? Awesome. And what I love most about this new exhibit is that on their website they list the animals and give information about each one. AND, you can further learn and educate yourself and your family by clicking on certain links that give you the details on why some of these creatures are on or are about to be on the endangered species list. Very scary! Here's their website...virginiazoo.org. Check it out and see for yourself. It's very informative.

One more thing, we are starting a new Pepsi promotion on air next week. Mother's Day is just around the corner and wait until you hear about all of the prizes you could win for your Mama. Or, Mama could win for herself. And it all starts with qualifiers winning Gift Certificates from Salon Vivace. Now that's a hair salon and spa!!! As always, so much to do and so little time to talk about it so with that being said please keep that Knob on BOB...I would hate for you to miss any of it!!

Welcome to April…2011

O.K. it's been about a week or so since I last touched base but has it been crazy or what? It's already April...No Foolin' (ha ha)...and before you know it the Holidays will be here!

So what do YOU have planned for the weekend? Come join us tonight in P-town. We will be there at about 5ish kicking off their "Concert In The Courtyard" series. Lewis McGehee is playing so you know the music is gonna be great. AND, there's free parking. Ton's of great restaurants to choose from so I'm really looking forward to it. I'm dragging my 14year old daughter with me. She's my date. Hubby has gotta work.

Tomorrow night, Saturday Night, another event I'm hosting for BOB-FM is the "Men Who Can Cook" promotion. We will be at the Masonic Temple off of Granby St. in Norfolk. It's before you get to the Ward's Corner area. I'm so looking forward to this. I hear these guys can REALLY cook. Proceeds benefit the Seniors involved.

Hope to see you out and about this weekend. And don't forget, on Sunday is the "Step Up" race to the top of the Dominion Tower event. Proceeds benefit the Up Center. They do incredible things for the community. Get all that they do on line at http://www.theupcenter.org. Our very own Eric Worden the Morning Guy will be stepping up again this year...Good Luck E.W.

That's it for me right now... to all of you I wish you a fun and safe weekend and thank you for "Keeping Your Knob On BOB"!
