Make A Match, Watch A Catch
Hey, your morning guy Eric here...just a reminder again that TODAY is the day for the annual drive for the Bone Marrow Registry at the College of William and Mary! Again it's the 20th anniversary year that the university has participated in a massive drive to come to the rescue of those suffering with leukemia and other blood-borne diseases. The registry gives those waiting for a miracle MATCH the best chance of finding a life-saving donor. FOUR matches have already been found as the result of PEOPLE LIKE YOU! It is truly a chance for you to save a person's life! This year their goal is the most ambitious yet...to register 1500 new potential donors. Usually there is a registration cost of $67 per person to register, but thanks to the students at W&M, fundraising efforts throughout the year are geared to cover the cost, so there is no expense to you
This year's drive takes place TODAY (April 13th) and it has grown to be the biggest collegiate bone marrow drive in the nation! Anyone 18-60 from the Bob-FM listening area is welcome to come and help. For details please log onto http://wmpeople.wm.edu/site/page/bonemarrowdrive
Now for the CATCH portion of today's blog. If you've been waiting to get glimpse of the Bob-FM Little League Cardinals, tonight will be a great night to catch them in action! In our third game of the season, the Cards will take on the always-tough Yankees. Game time is 6:00pm at Fleet Park (Hampton Blvd. in Norfolk on the outskirts of the Navy Base). Just look for the kid-pitch minors field. The Cards are 1-1 and are looking for their second straight victory! I'll be the one coaching first base and spittin' sunflower seeds!
Bring your glove for the best CATCH of the day!
Bob-FM Invites You To “Be The Match”
Your pal Eric here, and you know I'm always trying to encourage all of us to do something good for our community...well, I received an email from a senior at the College of William and Mary this morning and it is definitely worthy of a blog mention. Her name is Jenny Grenga, and she has shared the good news for those who are fighting leukemia and other blood-borne diseases. This is the 20th anniversary year that the university has participated in a massive drive to increase the National Bone Marrow Registry. It is there that those waiting for a miracle match have the best chance at finding life-saving donor.

Play Ball! Bob-FM Supports Final Season At Fleet Park
Game On Bob listeners! While sadness may creep in when coming to grips with the final season at Fleet Park for many Norfolk Little Leaguers, families who have been gathering there for decades will again be all smiles when our kids get out for some of the best chapters of the American Pastime. Proud to say Bob-FM is back again as a sponsor, and even prouder that Colby's kid-pitch Minors team, the Cardinals, are the sponsored team! Thanks also to our co-sponsor Cottman Transmissions of Chesapeake and all the others sponsoring teams and placing banners all over Fleet Park. Bob-FM loves giving back to the community, and I so appreciate the Sinclairs always stepping up to help. Cards are coming off a big win over the Athletics on Saturday. Colby pitched into the fifth inning giving up only one hit and going 3-for-3 at the plate! Proud dad! We hung in for our first win of the season, taking the game 9-6 despite a furious comeback by the A's! 'Course it's all about having fun, though it is nice to get a W. Good luck to all the teams. Let's make this last season the best ever! If you would like to support Fleet Park Little League or find out more information on the season at FP, log onto http://www.eteamz.com/navalbase.

Thank YOU For Making A Difference!
A warm start to another great week here in Hampton Roads!
On today's blog, I just wanted to thank all of our listeners who have "stepped up" to make a difference this week, including the hundreds who turned out yesterday for the Up Center (formerly the Dept. for Children and Family Services). Their 2nd annual "Step Up" event here at Dominion Tower featured stair-climbers from all over the region and raised thousands of dollars for the Up Center. To find out how you can get involved in next year's climb to the top, to volunteer or find other ways on how to help the Up Center, log onto http://www.theupcenter.org.>
Another vital service here in Hampton Roads is Prevent Child Abuse Hampton Roads. Each year media-types try their hand at waiting tables for them to raise money. This is the 29th year and I'm proud to be a part. I'll be taking orders starting at 6pm this Thursday the 7th at Baker's Crust in Ghent. Stop by, I'd love to meet you and serve your supper! Big tips are welcome, as they will all go to help prevent child abuse. Holly Williams will be doing the same at Il Giardino's at the Oceanfront. The event is from 6-10 and includes many of the finest eateries in Hampton Roads. Get a full listing of participating restaurants online at http://www.ucantbeatkids.org.
And finally, I just want to thank all of you who helped out with our World Vision Radio-a-Thon last week. I continue to receive some amazing emails from folks who are still getting online and joining me in sponsoring a child in poverty. It is not too late to get involved. I could tell you what a special experience it is to share this experience with my children, but I think I'll let listener Kim Irwin do it. I received this note over the weekend, and I think she says it best...
"Eric, thank you!
Because of your radio efforts on behalf of World Vision you got me thinking. Last night my kids, Madison 6 and Westin 9, and I sponsored Cindy from El Salvador. They had a great time looking through the pictures, they found ownership in choosing who they felt they could connect with. Both the kids couldn't wait to go to school to share this new friend and venture with their teachers. They are also so excited about getting our packets, writing letters (another bonus), and hearing from Cindy directly.
Thanks to you, this is going to be such a wonderful way to teach my children about giving to those less fortunate and about life outside of the US.
Kim Erwin
Madison and Westin's mom
Amazing huh? Please don't hesitate to share the same joy with your kids. The toll-free number is available to us for the rest of this week only. Call 1-866-924-HOPE or find the World Vision link on our homepage. Thanks so much
Have an awesome week, and Keep Your Knob On Bob!
