Let’s have some FUN!

This weekend will be the 15th annual Parrot Head Charity Beach Ball where the proceeds will go to benefit the Alzheimer's Association, Southeastern Virginia Chapter. It's taking place at the Wyndham Oceanfront Resort on Atlantic Ave. at 57th Street starting at 6:30pm this Saturday night February 4th, 2012. It will be a night of music, spirits, food and a lot of fun! For the details here's the website...phcot.com. I'll be there ready to dance the night away. I do want to share with you why though. Of course it will be fun but unfortunately this disease is very personal to me. My family and I have done our own contributions to various chapters in my Dad's name in the hope of finding a cure. It will be 3 years on February the 8th we lost him to Alzheimer's. It's still a shock and heart-ache at the same time. So, this Saturday night will be another way for me to get involved. If you want to have some fun while doing something helpful in finding a cure, tickets are still available and again, get on the website for all of the details....phcot.com. I hope you can make it

I want to mention another gala fund-raiser that's taking place at the Military Aviation Museum on February the 11th, 2012. This will benefit the museum itself where historic war-planes will continue to have a home and will be able to be maintained. They want you to get dressed in your best 1940's attire and dance the night away. Here too will be food and drink and dancing and of course, a lot of fun. For these details get to this website...militaryaviationmuseum.org. For those of you who are crazy about history, you'll love being a part of this night!

Hope to see you out and about. And please always check BOB-FM's website to see where we are as well. Have a good one and as always, thanks for listening!
What's better than Chocolate? Really, I mean REALLY!!! So I'm really grateful for my family and friends but in regards to the title of this blog, I guess you can say it's the little things that can make a person's day too. Think about it, a great dinner when the day is done and a nice glass of wine to complement the meal and NOW, we have chocolate wines that you can enjoy as a desert!!! Me likey! We are gearing up for our "Art Of Chocolate" festival that will hit Hampton Roads in March of 2012. People, that means everything will be chocolate. I'm starting my diet NOW. Of course after we get done taste-testing this evening(that's what I'm doing as I write this blog...or should I say this afternoon). We've got to know what we are getting ourselves into....right? I have to head to the gym in just a short few but that's o.k. because I'll be ready when March rolls around. YUMMY!!

We do so so many events around here. I hope that you will join BOB-FM at all of them....especially the "Chocolate" One! Have a great night and thanks for keeping that KNOB ON BOB...may I have some more please? What's better than Chocolate? Really, I mean REALLY!!!
Well I did it! I jumped out of a perfectly good airplane 14,000 feet high and parachuted back down to the ground. You may think I'm crazy but it was all for a wonderful amazing cause. And here's the scary part, I'd do it again!!! The Wounded Warrior Project is why we were out at Skydive Suffolk all day yesterday, August the 14th. Wounded service men and women with their families in tow came from all over the United States to have their opportunity to Skydive. They were all wounded heroes who just wanted a chance to have some fun for a day. And for the rest of us, it was our chance to say "thank you" to them for what they have done for our country and our freedoms. On-air for the past couple of weeks we've been asking you wonderful listeners to donate whatever you could to the Wounded Warrior Project by getting on line at woundedwear.com. If you donated thank you so much for doing so. If you haven't and would still like to please go to that website. Anything you can do is very much appreciated. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the families of the fallen Seals from last weekends attack. We definitely had those men and their families in our thoughts and prayers yesterday too.

Well that's it for me. Such an emotional day. Check out the video for some laughs (but try not to laugh too too hard). And when you get to the part where I'm inside the plane heading up into the sky, notice the first jumper to go...that was why I did what I did. It was very powerful. Peace to you all and as always thanks for listening.

It's been a while since I last wrote. It was a very busy June. Now we are already two weeks into July and before you know it...the holidays! Yikes. I know I've said this before about how time is flying by but it really is. Kind of scary. So, to bring my emotions to a calmer level, I always dive into music. Did you hear about the announcements I made this past Sat. morning? I was broadcasting at the Ferguson for the Arts in Newport News and I could not and still can not get over the line up. Pretty amazing. I'm thinking I should just pitch a tent on campus and live there until the 2011-2012 season is over. Get on line and get the details. It was the same way a couple of weeks ago when I heard about the line up at the Sandler Center. These two venues are on a roll. What I love most is that you will always have a show to go to. It's the perfect excuse to visit both sides of the water and don't forget, it's always standard "practice" to dine out before the concert. If you have any recommendations for peninsula restaurants that would be helpful. Since I live in Norfolk I'm pretty familiar with this side. I definitely need help on the peninsula side for great not-so-pricey restaurants.

Allow me to switch gears briefly. I need to wish my dear dear friend Eric Worden a very Happy Birthday...his official day is July 12th, 19_ _. I'll let him tell you the year. In any case, Eric I hope you have a wonderful day 'cause you deserve it. I hope you are surrounded by great friends and family because you are truly loved!!! Here's to another 16 plus (and the plus is very important) years of knowing you...xoxo.

Here's to a new work week. I hope it's a good one. See you out and about. Maybe YNot Wednesdays or The Mariners Museum Thursday Concert Series. Where ever we go, let's go and have some fun...that's an order !! PEACE and thanks for listening!!!

OMGosh can you say slow down everyone or what? I'll tell you what, you know it's summertime because BOB-FM is all over Hampton Roads. Believe me I'm not complaining, it's just that I'm hoping you are getting out with us as well. We have so many concerts again this summer and that means we have YOUR concert tickets. You just have to find us to register to win them. And, sometimes we just give them away; no registration necessary. We try to be as accommodating as possible. Look for us starting this week at Why Not Wednesdays in front of the Sandler Center in Virginia Beach, VA. Friday we are at N'telos so if you need a new phone they have incredible deals. My husband and I are looking into them too. I think we are all in the market to try and save a few bucks! Speaking of which if your in the market for a new or pre-owned vehicle earlier on Friday I'm doing some of my show out at Peninsula Honda on Mercury Blvd. in Hampton. Chris the General Manager and Joe the General Sales Manager are great folks. And the deals are like no other. Saturday we are out early in the morning at the Hampton Farmers Market in downtown Hampton where we host the Hampton Street Festivals every Saturday Night. Starting at 9am I'll be in the dunking tank ( the things I do for radio ) for the Educational Programs for the Virginia Air and Space Center. It's a great event and yes, a great cause. Anything to do with educating our youth is a great event. So, swing on by and watch me look really really foolish in the dunking tank....oh yeah, I WILL be looking for donations!!! O.k., I hope to see you "out and about" as our Canadian friends say!!! And as always thanks for keeping your Knob on BOB!! Peace.OMGosh can you say slow down everyone or what?
Yo Yo...what up? I thought I'd talk a little "street"....how are you and it's been way too long since I've checked in with you. So much is going on. Listening to BOB-FM you can tell we are all over Hampton Roads. I hope to see you at one of the many events and functions. Speaking of which, we are BACK Friday nights at Kokoamos. Love it there. The deck is gorgeous and add some beautiful weather to the mix, it's the perfect place to hang. And don't forget most of the time we'll have concert tickets up for grabs. Just put your name into the registration box. We pull a winner that night right there on the spot before we leave. We usually hang out for two hours but I've been known to hang out a little while longer...yikes some of those nights were just way too fun!!!!

And here's another thing too. Don't forget about all of the festivals. WOW, to keep it all straight and to get a schedule of the events keep our website address handy. Are you going to the VA Air and Space Museum this Thursday night? The new Pirates movie will be showing there in their IMAX Theater...can't wait to see my boyfriend. Of course I'm speaking of Johnny. And yes, my husband knows. But why do you think he pats me on my head and says "it will be O.K. and than says something about a padded cell and a white jacket?" Any who, looking forward to it! The movie that is.

O.K.,,,,so stay well and happy and I look forward to seeing you around town! And as always, Thanks for Keeping Your Knob on BOB...peace!Yo Yo...what up?
OMGosh what a day. I love animals and I know a lot of you love animals. With that being said we were broadcasting live at the Virginia Zoo in Norfolk and boy did we have a great time. First of all the weather was perfect. Secondly, we got to get close with a few of the animals. Here are a few pictures with us and the Tortoises. These creatures are amazing. Meet AJ. He's the eldest. He's 91 years old and weighs about 500lbs. Crazy! And a special thank you to Yohn, he's the Zoo Keeper for the Tortoises. Please stayed tune for the pictures with us seeing the beautiful Asian Black Bears. We went behind the scenes where the bears spend their nights sleeping and also in the midday when the Zoo Keeper, Charlene, brings them in for their midday snack. These are magnificent creatures. Also thank you again Charlene for your time. Roger who is the Deputy Director of the Zoo and Win, who is the Marketing Director, we thank you both for making it all happen. We had such a great time. Get over there to the Zoo. It's such family fun. And don't forget to educate yourself and the kiddies on these wonderful beautiful animals by getting on the Virginia Zoo's website at Virginiazoo.org. Believe it or not, we can make a huge difference for these animals and their habitats as American Consumers. It's well worth it. Have a great night and more animal pics on the way....PEACE!

Our dear family friend, Cherrise Minerva, asked me to spread the word on something that is happening at the YWCA in Norfolk off of Colley Ave. The complete address is 5215 Colley Ave. They are discussing "Racial Prejudice: America's Blind Spot". The movement, STAND AGAINST RACISM, has the goal of bringing people together from all walks of life in the hopes of raising awareness that racism still exits. There will be music, spoken word and a presentation by Dr. Cassandra Newby-Alexander. Mark your calendar for Friday, April 29, 2011 from 11:30am to 1:30pm. And on Saturday, April 30th there will be more events. Get the details at the YWCA of Norfolk.

So many other things are happening. We are broadcasting live starting on Thursday on through the weekend. I hope you can catch us at one of the remotes.

Or should I say "Let the games begin". We are going to be all over the place now that the "warm" weather is here, right? Isn't it? Keeping my fingers crossed on that one. In any case, always keep in mind that where ever we end up going, freebies tag along. And that's a good thing for you BOB-FM listeners. I do have to let you know that I was at One Life Fitness in the Chesapeake Square location last night. OMG what a place. I did for the first time and definitely not the last ZUMBA. WOW what a blast. Anika was the instructor. She's amazing. I'm hoping she'll be teaching at the Norfolk location soon. That's the One Life I go to. More convenient. Don't forget you can use your One Life Fitness Membership at all of their locations...southside and peninsula and majority of the amenities are included in that! Sweet. Keep the Knob on BOB 'cause you never know when we'll be giving away One Life Fitness Memberships. Better yet, I'll be at the Newport News location on Monday April 18th. Stop by....that is if you're feeling lucky.

Also, we are doing giveaways for the Virginia Zoo in Norfolk. We have family four-packs up for grabs. Did you see the new exhibit yet, "Trail of the Tiger"? Awesome. And what I love most about this new exhibit is that on their website they list the animals and give information about each one. AND, you can further learn and educate yourself and your family by clicking on certain links that give you the details on why some of these creatures are on or are about to be on the endangered species list. Very scary! Here's their website...virginiazoo.org. Check it out and see for yourself. It's very informative.

One more thing, we are starting a new Pepsi promotion on air next week. Mother's Day is just around the corner and wait until you hear about all of the prizes you could win for your Mama. Or, Mama could win for herself. And it all starts with qualifiers winning Gift Certificates from Salon Vivace. Now that's a hair salon and spa!!! As always, so much to do and so little time to talk about it so with that being said please keep that Knob on BOB...I would hate for you to miss any of it!!Or should I say "Let the games begin".
O.K. it's been about a week or so since I last touched base but has it been crazy or what? It's already April...No Foolin' (ha ha)...and before you know it the Holidays will be here!

So what do YOU have planned for the weekend? Come join us tonight in P-town. We will be there at about 5ish kicking off their "Concert In The Courtyard" series. Lewis McGehee is playing so you know the music is gonna be great. AND, there's free parking. Ton's of great restaurants to choose from so I'm really looking forward to it. I'm dragging my 14year old daughter with me. She's my date. Hubby has gotta work.

Tomorrow night, Saturday Night, another event I'm hosting for BOB-FM is the "Men Who Can Cook" promotion. We will be at the Masonic Temple off of Granby St. in Norfolk. It's before you get to the Ward's Corner area. I'm so looking forward to this. I hear these guys can REALLY cook. Proceeds benefit the Seniors involved.

Hope to see you out and about this weekend. And don't forget, on Sunday is the "Step Up" race to the top of the Dominion Tower event. Proceeds benefit the Up Center. They do incredible things for the community. Get all that they do on line at http://www.theupcenter.org. Our very own Eric Worden the Morning Guy will be stepping up again this year...Good Luck E.W.

That's it for me right now... to all of you I wish you a fun and safe weekend and thank you for "Keeping Your Knob On BOB"!

Happy St. Patty’s Day…

How fun is this gonna be today. We are hanging at Finn McCools in the Landstown Shopping Center off of Princess Anne Rd. in VA Beach for St. Patty's Day. It's not too far from the Amphitheater. I'm starting out real early....like at 1pm. It's gonna be crazy. I hope you are gonna join us. Great food at Finn McCools! And do I have to say the beverages are mighty fine too? I didn't think so. Looking forward to seeing you there. AND, you can register to win the trip to Ireland. Very nice!

Let's switch gears and talk about shopping...I will be hanging out tomorrow morning at J. Jill in the Oyster Point City Center in Newport News. They have some amazing clothes. We are taking pictures of gals who find their Spring outfits there...it's a mini photo shoot for you. What a great idea. Tell me this won't put you in the mood for Springtime! I hope you will come and shop with me. And please don't forget to see what you can donate for the Transitions Women's Shelter. They are looking for gently worn clothes and accessories and by you donating you will receive 10% off any full priced items.

Later on that day (Saturday) I will be broadcasting at Pomoco Nissan on Mercury Blvd. I love cars. Wonder what I will test drive Saturday afternoon? I love the 2-door Altima Coupes. They are sharp little cars. If you see some chick racing up and down Mercury Blvd. don't be scared it's only yours truly!

And finally my day will end with opening night for Madame Butterfly with the Virginia Opera. I am so looking forward to it. My daughter and husband will be joining. It's a wonderful family evening. My daughter Reid and I had the good fortune of meeting the cast a couple of weeks back. We both love the Bass-Baritone Ashraf Sewailam. What a nice person and a great talent.

Hope to see you today at Finn McCools for a ton of St. Patty's Day FUN!

O.M.G...'cause what I meant to say was O.M.D. But what I really said was O.M.I. I know you're thinking "What is she talking about"? I just did my last on-air announcement for the day and referred to Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark, shorter version is O.M.D., as O.M.I. Jay West called me on it. Believe me, it won't be the last time I make a mistake. I really think it's the weather. Right? We should be home, curled up in a warm comforter reading a book or watching a great movie. And yes, enjoying some wonderful red wine too. No thinking allowed!

On a different note, I really feel this week flew by. It could be because we have a lot of promotions going on AGAIN. Which means free stuff for you. Can you say Buffett Buffett and more Buffett? If you don't win tickets via the studio, check out the promotion through our facebook page. That's going to be a lot of fun. I'd do whatever I could if I were you 'cause these tickets are gonna sell out! And Nascar Lovers...we have tickets for you courtesy of Pepsi Max and BOB-FM. All you have to do is get over on the home page and click on the Pepsi Max Logo and enter your name in the drawing. Simple Simple. We are picking a winner on the 21st of March for the Martinsville Race April 3rd. Good Luck!

I guess that's it for now. I hope I see you Saturday Night at Keagan's in the Town Center in Virginia Beach. I love it over there. We always have a good time. They always have great food and beverage specials. This is all for pre-St. Patty's Day. We do this every year.
Last day of February ... 2011 WOW!

I can't believe it's the last day of the month. Don't tell me, before you know it, summer will be here. YIKES!!! I hope you had a great weekend and all is well in your world. I have to tell you, I was non-stop this weekend. No cleaning was done that IS for sure. I started off Friday night with the kiddo and myself going to a nice little dinner out and then heading over to the Ferguson Center, love this venue, to see Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons....literally, "Oh What A Night". At one part during the concert they sang this compilation of several Motown songs. Loved it. My daughter liked a lot of the songs. She recognized the Motown hits, in particular "My Girl". My husband sings that to her all the time. Frankie sounded great. The music was excellent and so were the "Four Seasons". They were four young entertainers who could sing amazingly and put out some rich four-part harmonies.

Saturday during the day we had our "Shoot It Out" Promotion with Diet Mountain Dew at the Virginia Beach Field House in Virginia Beach. Cool place for the sport enthusiast! We had listeners shoot baskets...it was the best of five. Chase Chaffin took First Place. Yep, he got it ALL! He received the 50" Plasma TV, the Blue Ray Home Theater System, a Visa gift card, the mini fridge, an XBox 360 and a pair of tickets to one of the tournament games. Not bad! Andrew Turnage came in Second Place. He scored an XBox 360 as well. We had a blast. Thank you to Chase, Andrew, Judson, Jan, Ray, Becky, Bob and Courtney for coming out. It was great meeting each of you and your families.

And Saturday Night, I went from shooting hoops to dressing in a formal gown and listening to Opera. Beautiful. I had the honor of hosting the Virginia Opera's Gala at the Half Moon Cruise and Celebration Center in Downtown Norfolk. What a beautiful place for an event. We had the good fortune of meeting and listening to Bass Baritone Ashraf Sewailam from Cairo. He was so fascinating. We talked about the current events in his home country. He had been home in Cairo and had left to come here to Norfolk just 4 days before the uprising. I think what I found to be most interesting when talking with Ashraf was as we were enjoying delicious food and wine, some of his family members were there, in Cairo, in Tahrir Square at that very moment! Ashraf would have been there along side them but unfortunately, he couldn't catch a flight home. Imagine that. Most of the time in the States it's because of poor weather conditions. In my new dear friend's home country, he can't catch a flight home due to a revolution. Crazy! Incidentally, opening night for Madama Butterfly is March 19th. Can't wait.

On another note I do want to say thanks for befriending us on Facebook for those of you who have done so. I know for some of you it certainly paid off. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we continue on in the month of March. Can you say Cha-Ching!

That's all for me. Heading over to One Life Fitness in a few on this late Monday afternoon to work off the weekend calories. Please stop by this Thursday. I'm broadcasting live at the Norfolk location and I would love to show you around. Wait until you see the TRX workout. You can meet Tom Hill. Love this guy. Very knowledgeable and extremely helpful. All of the folks are like that at all of the One Life Fitness Locations. I never never feel intimidated to ask questions. Just ask Tom...although sometimes I think he wishes I was. And hey, they have a new membership opportunity for you...a dollar a day. No contracts. Simple and affordable designed to fit your budget. Have a wonderful night and as always thanks for keeping your Knob On BOB!I can't believe it's the last day of the month.

Hey Everyone, It's Monday February the 21 st and Facebook February is rolling on. No winner today so that means the jackpot is up to $300. Not bad. All for just becoming our friend on Facebook. Easy Money!! Also, don't forget about the huge jackpot of prizes you could win from Diet Mountain Dew. Keep your "Knob On BOB" and when you hear about Monarch basketball tickets up for grabs, win them 'cause then you'll be invited to the "BIG Shoot it Out" at the Virginia Beach Field House in Virginia Beach. Very exciting to say the least.

Switching gears, they had a great turn out for the Fun Raiser for Warren Seaburg at South Beach Grill in Virginia Beach. Warren has been a constant musical force in Hampton Roads and has always been there for other musicians in need. Now he is in the battle of his life and if you can help out in any way, I know Warren would be very grateful. He has played with so many folks, but it's his rock/Jimmy Buffet-style fun festival band that you've probably heard more recently in the past couple of years called Party Fins. They have certainly played quite a few of BOB-FM's events. Another fund raiser is being planned for February 27th at the Wickers Crab Pot in Chesapeake. Again, anything you can do is appreciated.

Here's to the new work week. Hope you have a good one. Less stress for ALL, that's my wish. PeaceHey Everyone, It's Monday February the 21 st and Facebook February is rolling on.
Hey there, how about all this free "STUFF" you can win on BOB-FM!!!! We've teamed up with Diet Mt. Dew. Did you see all that's up for grabs? Keep listening for your shot to score tickets to an ODU Basketball game. You do that, you become qualified to "Shoot it Out" on February 26th at the Virginia Beach Field House. You have to make basketball shots from five strategic spots on the court. Make all or the most, and you win. Check out all of the details on _937bobfm.com._
AND, you can win cash too!!! Thanks to FaceBook February! Make us your friend on FaceBook, if we call your name out on the air you have 10 minutes to call US in the studio at 22-22-937!!! You do that, you win. Simple.

One more noted thought folks, during the summer months we hung out at the Sandler Center in Virginia Beach for the Why Not Wednesday concert series. Quite a few times, the band PARTY FINS played. Warren Seaburg who is lead vocalist has been battling Bladder Cancer for the past 20 years. I have to tell you, I've had multiple conversations with the man and never new of his struggle. Well, I read an article in Veer Magazine explaining that Warren, who has donated his time and music to countless fund raisers for various artists in years past, is in need of support from Hampton Roads in raising funds to battle his illness. The first one is this Sunday, February the 20th at South Beach Grill in Virginia Beach. I'm happy to report a lot of wonderful talent is going to be there. Lewis McGehee who is an amazing player and person will be there along with Mr. Robbin Thompson!!!!! Jesse Chong who has made quite a name for himself in Hampton Roads will also be performing. Another fundraiser will be held on the 27th of this month at the Wickers Crab Pot in Chesapeake. Both eateries will have great food and beverage and more importantly attending either one or both will make a huge difference in Warren's life!!

Lots going on that is for sure.
Have a wonderful rest of the week and as always, we thank you so much for "Keeping Your Knob On BOB"!!!!...Hey there, how about all this free "STUFF" you can win on BOB-FM!!!!
Happy New Year!!!! I hope the holidays were great for you. AND HOW ABOUT THAT SNOW!!!! OMGosh, I loved it. It did curtail me from seeing my family up north, but were are getting together this weekend at my kid sisters' house...I can't wait to see everyone. So, what resolutions have you decided on? O.k., maybe one resolution. I'm doing the One Life Fitness challenge again. I did it last year. Kept most of the weight off but hey, it was the holidays. Unfortunately for me, I forgot to exercise during the break...the calories and fat came back in no time. But, I'm still at a better weight than I was last year this time. I start the workouts tonight at One Life Fitness in Norfolk. It's on Monticello Ave. Tom Hill will be my trainer again....love Tom but I did come up with a nickname for him last year....can you say SATAN!!! Just kidding...it was all for my own good. Really, I haven't felt better. Working out really helps with the metabolism. It gives it a jump start if you will. And of course I will be watching the calories. Get on line at onelifefitness.com. Wait until you see what they have for you. And all the classes they offer as part of your membership. And here's the great news, you WILL find a class that WILL fit your schedule. Monday through Sunday. O.k. that's it for me. I'll let you know how the workout goes. I think I'm TRXing like I did last year. This is the BEST workout ever. Have a wonderful first week back in the new year. I wish you happiness and good health in 2011.

Get to Little Joe's of Chesapeake or Pembroke Suzuki of Virginia Beach and test drive one for yourself.
Hey there, how's the work week going? Hope it's a good one for you. If your looking for something to do this weekend, Friday night is Verdi's opera, Rigoletto. The music is breathtaking as only a Verdi Opera can be! Get there early because at 7pm in the lobby we are hosting a BOB-FM Italian "beverage" tasting. And don't forget there's a special BOB-FM listener ticket price. Just give them the promo code "Sinclair 1" and you'll be golden!

Also, I'll be broadcasting live at the Oyster Point City Center in Newport News on Saturday. If you've never been I suggest you check it out. Let me tell you, when those stores have sales, those stores have sales! My kind of shopping. O.K., that's it for me. And later on that day if you are planning to go to Bush Gardens for Howl-O-Scream....look for me I'll be in the Pepsi Booth in between getting the "you-know-what" scared out of me and broadcasting. It's in Germany. Another busy weekend...come and keep me company! Until next time...thanks for keeping "Your Knob On Bob"!!
